Cathryn Berger Kaye

Cathryn Berger Kaye, M.A., president of CBK Associates, is a former classroom teacher and International Service Learning Consultant. She works with state departments of education, university faculty and students, school districts, and classroom teachers on a variety of education issues such as service learning, civic responsibility, student leadership, and respectful school communities. She is the author of The Complete Guide to Service Learning: Proven, Practical Ways to Engage Students in Civic Responsibility, Academic Curriculum, & Social Action, the new Free Spirit Service Learning for Kids Series, and an innovative program linking literacy, character education, and civic engagement—Strategies for Success with Literacy: A Learning Curriculum that Serves. Jim Toole

James Toole, Ph.D. is President of Compass Institute and a Teaching and Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota in the School of Social Work and College of Education. He has taught at every level from pre-school and kindergarten through graduate school. James works with a wide variety of organizations on issues including service-learning, global youth leadership development, organizational change, connecting spiritually and service, and global health. His main mentor is his four year old daughter Christiana.

Joan Liptrot

Joan Liptrot is the Executive Director of IGESL. The Institute for Global Education & Service Learning (IGESL) is a non-profit organization that provides service learning training and technical assistance to schools, community organizations, and national service programs. IGESL is one of thirteen agencies named in the National and Community Service Act of 1993 as a central resource for service learning programs. IGESL is the Atlantic Regional Center for the National Service Learning Exchange and the hosting agency for national and international service learning conferences.

Tracy Harkins is the Education Programs Manager at KIDS Consortium, where she coordinates major grant-funded projects and professional development services. Tracy joined KIDS Consortium in 2000 as an Education Consultant and has extensive experience creating and delivering professional development programs and resources on service-learning. She also works with school districts and communities as they develop policies and administrative support structures to sustain service-learning. Tracy co-authored the KIDS as Planners Guidebook and Working With KIDS: A Service-Learning guide for Community Partners.

Barry Guillot

Barry Guillot, a 7th grade science teacher at the Harry M. Hurst Middle School, in Destrehan, Louisiana, started the LaBranche Wetland Watchers project as part of a school-wide emphasis on service-learning. He combines activities designed to serve the community with specific learning objectives based on grade-level standards. Barry, a member of the Partnership's Membership Committee, received the Louisiana Wildlife Federation 2004 Conservation Educator of the Year Award.
