Terry Snow Receives Jack Harvey Fellowship Award
Terry Snow, Aledo Middle School Science teacher, has received the Jack Harvey Fellowship Award as part of the Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers. Sponsored by Weatherford College, the exemplary-teacher award recognizes teaching excellence among educators from the college’s partner schools.
Snow has received acclaim for her “Prairie Protectors” project, which has made science instruction come to life for her eighth-grade students. Her students have taken on leadership roles and responsibilities, enabling them to reseed natural prairies in this area that had been impacted by pipeline construction. Her students also have applied for and received grant funding to create nature trails for the Aledo District’s elementary students to visit.
Aledo High School Principal Dan Peterson (former AMS principal) said, “Terry Snow is the type of teacher who makes topics so ingrained in her students that they remember those ideas years after the lesson. She has shaped a program that will benefit our students for years to come.”
